This is a collection of announcements, invitations and cards I've designed. Some are displayed as product photos of the finished project and some are shown as the digital artwork.
When our son was born, I wanted to create an announcement steeped in heritage since he is the fifth. I asked my mother-in-law for photos of his predecessors and chose a clothesline to display them to give it a vintage feel. The headline font is an old style as well, while the photo of the newborn and the birth information are more modern, bringing it full circle.
Since the theme was a Mexican fiesta, I designed the invitation as a margarita glass which held the party details. The lime garnish and glass were printed on card stock and cut out by hand, and the lime was slit and wrapped around the glass.
The theme for this party was Dora the Explorer, so I wanted to give the feel of the character without infringing on licensing limitations.
We call our son our little monkey so we did a monkey-themed first birthday party. I thought the banana was a fun choice for the invitation as it allowed for layers and depth. The final product also included a third page that was the yellow peel without any copy as the back cover. These were printed on cardstock and hand cut and glued at key points.
The party was at a casino, so I decided to create a royal flush from the suit of hearts for the invitation. Each card had more details about the party. I printed them on cardstock, rounded the corners and fastened them with a red eyelet in the bottom left corner.
This couple had a destination wedding with only immediate family and then had a reception later. Since they met when they worked in a movie theater, they asked me to create the invitation to mimic a movie ticket. I printed them on metallic gold paper and used a circle punch and zig zag scissors.
I captured our 5-year-old sitting in front of the Christmas tree the first night we started putting up decorations. It wasn't finished, but that didn't matter; she was caught up in the spirit of the season. I used filters in Photoshop to give it a vintage feel. This is the digital copy and the red is difficult to read on screen, but printed well.
